The book entitled, “trends in Biodiversity and Aquaculture” is an outcome of original research papers contributed by various responsible experts in their respective fields. The book is divided into two sections. The first section covers the floristic component laying emphasis on biodiversity aspects from the ethno botanical perspective. Under management plans, impact of deweeding on aquatic biodiversity has also been dealt with. Moving from land towards aquatic habitats the cycling of process of biologically essential element viz., phosphorous has also been included as it is one of the important and essential nutrients in deciphering the productivity of the aquatic ecosystems. Looking to the importance of usage of multidimensional approaches and remote sensing for biodiversity evaluation, the papers related to these aspects have been included. Emphasis is laid on assessing the specific biodiversity aspect on both land and water. The second to the aquaculture wherein most of the essential aspects of aquaculture have been dealt with. Papers highlighting different fractions of aquaculture starting from site selection, construction of aquaculture farm, nursery management to breeding have been included besides papers giving important information regarding fish fauna, investment opportunity in aquaculture, recent advances in fish technology to integrated fish farming.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ashwani Wanganeo

Dr. Ashwani Wanganeo (born 1954) after complewting his Ph.D. in aquatic ecology from University of Kashmir, Srinagar, India in 1980 fervently till date. Recently he was associated as a task force member to undertake scientific investigation at Antarctica by Department of Ocean development new Delhi through national Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research, Goa, India). Dr. Wanganeo has undertaken number of other ecological projects funded by National and International agencies. Till date twelve Ph.D. degrees have been awarded under his guidance. He has published fifty research papers and reviews in the journals of National and International repute. He is also on the panel of experts of several National Organizations. Presently Dr. Wanganeo of Limenology, Barkatullaj University, Bhopal, M. P. India.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.K. Langer

R.K. Lager (born 1948) completed his D.F.Sc. from central Institute of Fisheries Education (I.C.A.R.), Mumbai. In all he has 37 years of experience in management, research, teaching and extension in temperate and tropical aquaculture. He has been serving in ICAR since 1968 and presently he is teaching at Central Institute of Fisheries Education (I.C.A.R) a deemed university at Mumbai for the past fifteen years. He has published fifty research papers and a bibliography on mahseer.
