Tribal Rebellion in Orissa During the 19th Century: A Study of Its Impact on Kendujhar a Feudatory State

In this book the author has tried in his best manner to unravel many unknown chapters about the Bhuyan meli in Kendujhar which took place in the year 1868 and 1891 respectively under the leadership of the great Tribal rebel leaders like Ratna Nayak and Dharanidhar Nayak. Both of them Stood for human rights. Yet among the leaders of the pre-nationalist freedom struggle period the leadership of the great tribal rebel leader Dharanidhar towards the last part of the 19th century stands supreme. Dharanidhar as a rebel leader he was not fighting for personal interest. He was fighting for the people. He was fighting for the motherland of the people of Kendujhar, who were always inhumanly and heavily taxed such as furnish tax, Plough tax, Bethi, magan, Rasad, Marriage tax and pilgrimage tax etc, All had to extend their hands to rise together against the British Empire and the King of Kendujhar, under the leadership of Dharanidhar was prepared to go to any extent for the cause of freedom.
