ABOUT THE AUTHOR Chitrasen Pasayet

Dr. Chitrasen Pasayet did his M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D. (1991) in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He was the recipient of National Scholarship (1978-82) and MCM Scholarship (1982-84). He qualified National Educational Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi and awarded Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) from 1985-86 to 1990-91. He has to his credit more than forty research papers in various professional social sciences journals. He has already published three books: Tribe, Caste and Folkculture (Rawat, Jaipur/New Delhi, 1998); Sociological and Anthropological Essays (The Institute of Oriya Studies, Cuttack, 2000) and Glimpses of Tribal and Folkculture (Anmol, New Delhi, 2003). He is the Associate Editor of contemporary Society: Childhood and Complex Order (Manak, New Delhi, 1996). He is associated with different learned hbodies and organizations. He is the Life bodies and organizations. He is the Life Member of the Indian Sociological Society, New Delhi; Ethnographic and Folkculture Society, Lucknow; Institute of Applied Anthropology and Social Research Calcutta; Orissa Economic Association; The Institute of Oriya Studies, Cuttack and Indian Folklore Association, Calcutta. He is the Founding Member and Vice President of Association for linking Community Education Development Issues, Childhood Studies, Ethnicity and Folkculture.
