This work is rendering of Tulsi Ramayan in English verse. Tulsidas was divinely inspired to write the Ramayan in Awadhi dialect. In order to popularize it among the masses, he artfully blended Bhojpuri, Brijbhasa and the local language of the people of Chitrakut in this great epic. The legend says that he saw the entire Ramayan in his dream.
A poet while translating in verse also creates something of his own since he pours his heart into it. Metres of poetry and rhymes are not as significant as the sense that he wishes to communicate. Satya Dev does not claim any scholarship but makes an honest attempt to bring Tulsi Ramayan to English readers in easily understandable verse.
His work was primarily for personal satisfaction of a tortured soul — Swantah Sukhaya. Those who read it strongly felt it should be published. The book has tried to maintain the originally of the lines of Tulsi Ramayan and hence readers may find the English verse matching line to line and word to word with the original. The author has tried to maintain the rhyme so that it can be sung and enjoyed.
