This book is an outcome of the author’s Ph.D. work. It highlights the uses of Turmeric, its processing and powdering activities in Sangli (Maharashtra). It is the unique book, which enters into the detailed insight into the trading activities, workforce activities and its marketing activities. Sangli is very famous for Turmeric processing and powdering activities. The centralization of Turmeric processing is being attracted by the producers from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The underground pits are the peculiar type of storage facility available in Sangli. Forward and future trading was being practiced since last 50 years. The expansion of the mills in Sangli area is hierarchical. It limits to the sons, saughters and grand children of the original mill owners. No new entrants are seen in the milling activities. The industry was protected during the primary state, today; also the industry requires state support. In fact, there is an opportunity to develop Turmeric Park with commodity special.
