Providing deep insights into understanding of the nature and magnitude of the problem of under-achievement in school children, this book tries to obtain base-line data regarding the prevalence of academic underachievement in Schools. It identifies the factors, psychological and school-related, that contribute to achievement and underachievement. Komilla Thapa, Ph.D., is a Professor at the Centre for Advanced. She has trained as a clinical psychologist at the National Institute of Mental health & Neurosciences, qualification training at the Maudsley and Bethlem Royal Hospitals, Institute of Psychiatry, University pf London. She has conducted workshops for school teachers, worked with disabled children and their families and provides counseling and clinical services.

Rama Charan Tripathi, Ph.D. is the Director, G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad and former Head of the Department of Psychology, university of Allahabad and former Head of the department of Psychology, university from the university of Michigan and was a Fulbright fellow at the Institute for Social research, university of Michagan (1967-68, 1982). His research interests include intergroup relations, influence processes in organizations and human resource development and rural development.
