The concern for human rights and fundamental freedoms has assumed a global dimension and is of vital significance to the world community. Human rights intrinsically and pervasively impact the quality and fulfillment of life of societies in all nations and ensure the prevalence of freedom, justice, peace and order in the world. The United Nations, has launched a world public information campaign for human rights knowledge and awareness of human rights. A massive global campaign is under way to create an awareness for the observance of human rights. Divided in two volumes, the book covers not only various important United Nations covenants and declarations but also touches the sensitive and burning issues of human rights. This book seeks to serve as a ready reckoner to all those who are actively working in the field of human rights. The book "United Nations on Human Rights" is also useful for NGOs, policy makers, advocates and for those who are teaching human right in educational institutions.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR V P Srivastav
Shri V.P. Srivastav has worked on varied national and international issues, is widely known for his contribution for writing several books on Human Rights, Police and Judiciary. He holds a bachelor degree of Law from Gorakhpur University (UP). He was associated with Directorate of Prosecution, Tis Hazari and served as Public Prosecutor. Besides, he was a Faculty member at Delhi Police Training College, Jharoda Kalan, New Delhi and known for his through knowledge and clear expression. Prior to these engagements, he was a practicing advocate and practiced more than seven years. Currently he is working as Copyright Information Officer in the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, New Delhi, a position he has held for several years. A legal activist, a characteristic leader and a research scholar Sri V.P. Srivastav has authored and edited more than dozen books and also been a contributing writer to various magazines and newspapers. He has more than twelve papers in his credit to various topics in law and has participated in several national and international conferences. His two articles have been published in Michigan University, USA and one at United Kingdom besides CBI Journals and Criminal Law Journals in India.
