India has begun efforts well in the beginning of the Independence to develop Nuclear Energy for peaceful purposes. Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had taken interest in the development of Atomic Energy for the industrial development of the country in the times to come. Atomic Energy Commission was constituted and the Prime Minister himself was the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission. Later on eminent scientist late Homi J. Bhabha was appointed as the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission. Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had made arrangements for the Atomic explosion in the year 1974. The Atomic Energy powers of the world which were mostly the American and the European Powers had not taken this development very pleasantly. Except Soviet Russia all other countries especially America had tried to obstruct the development of Atomic Energy in India. But India continued its efforts to develop Atomic Energy ion its own and after great hardships was successful in becoming a Nuclear Power well in 1974. More and more Nuclear Explosions were made in the year 1998 by the Government headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee which prompted Pakistan also to make explosions. Inspite of the fact that Pakistan did not have the capacity to develop Atomic Energy on its own and it was working at the behest of China and America, it is generally believed that the Atom Bombs were placed in the window of Pakistan, manufactured by China and America. The truth is not well established. Ultimately the world Atomic Powers have accepted India as a Atomic Power and have now come to the point of striking a deal with India for supplying fission material for the development of Atomic Energy for civilian purposes.
