ABOUT THE AUTHOR Mobarak Hossain Khan

Musician, music researcher and writer, Mobarak Hossain Khan has made a valuable contribution to music as a Surbahar player. He comes of a family of musicians, and is the third son of Ustad Ayet Ali Khan, a great musician of the subcontinent. Mr. Khan has written about twenty books on music and musicians. His article 'Music of Bangladesh' has been included in the Swedish Encyclopedia. He was awarded the Comilla Foundation Gold Medal (1984) and the Ekushe Padak (1986) - the two prestigious honours of Bangladesh.
