Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul is one of the most widely read authors writing in English. He has carved a niche for himself in the world of fictional as well as non-fictional literatures. He calls himself a homeless cosmopolitan of Indian origin, with West Indian social heritage and British citizenship. He has been writing for last five decades and has written novels, short stories, non-fictional novels, travelogues, fictional autobiographies and biographies, journalistic writings and history among other things. Naipaul is a great observer of the general drama of human life and as a craftsman he has shifted from one fictional form to another to present the post-colonial experiences in their various shapes and shades. The present book endeavors to critically examine his narrative art as it unfolds itself in his various representative works. These major works include his short fictional works, his fictional biographies, autobiographies, his non-fictional novels and travelogues as well as his narration of history. The author has tried to evaluate his narrative art as manifested in these works.
