‘Vaidyamrta’ is a treatise of nectar for Ayurvesic Scholars. Its written by vaidya Moreswara in 1547 AD who was the resident of Ahmadanagar. As per the description of author its designed based on three aspects viz.:

1. Subject learnt by the author through teachers.

2. Informations gathered by experience of the author and contemparary experts.

3. Knowledge gained by author through previous treatises.

The text is simple form and the language is also easily followable, which deals with Astangas of Ayurveda. It contains 4 chapters and chapter is named as Alankara. The treatment modalities mentioned are very simple, special, cost effective, easily available and easily preparable. Equal importance has been given to Daivavyapasraya cikitsa (Treatment based on spirituality), Yuktivyapasraya cikitsa (Treatment based on rationality) and Satvavajaya cikitsa (Psychotherapy). Medicines and diseases then available are dealt with.

In the present work, special method has been followed in translation. Without disturbing the original view of the author, stress has been given for the process of simplification, clarification and elaboration. The text has been designed with three stages. In first stage basic essential informations to understand the text are given. The second division deals with the text proper. All four alankaras are explained systematically with proper procedure and ingredients along with technical clarity. The third stage is the supportive part for second one wherein clarifications are provided. As the work has been done by referring all available manuscripts of Vaidyamrta with appropriate edition and translation, hope will be usefull for Ayurveda fraternity. This is the humble effort of authors in the field of medical manuscriptology.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Arhanth Kumar A.

Dr. Arhanth Kumar A. is an upcoming Ayurvedic Scholar belonging to Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka state. He did his B.A.M.S. from K.V.G. Ayurveda Medical College, Sullia. He completed his M.D. (Ayu) in Ayurveda Siddhanta from Govt. Ayurveda Medical College, Mysore. He did his M.S. in Counseling and psychotherapy and certificate course on principals of clinical pharmacology. He is well versed in the field of literary research, counseling and Psychotherapy, Yoga and Ayurveda. He presented many scientific papers at various national and international seminars. He published many articles in national and international indexed journals. He is experienced in the field of translation, edition, original writing and critical analysis of Ayurvedic texts. He delivered many lectures at All India Radio related to different areas of Ayurveda. He is actively involved in various awareness and research programmes of Ayurveda. He contributed articles to many e books and well versed in the technology of framing e books. At present he is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Samhita and Siddhanta, S.D.M. College of Ayurveda, Udupi, Karnataka state.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shreevathsa .

Dr. Shreevathsa, basically from Shimoga district, Karnataka state, is working in the department of Ayurveda Siddhanta-’-PG Studies, Govt. Ayurvedic Medical College, Mysore. He completed his HAMS from Govt. Ayurvedic Medical College, Mysore in 1996 with I completed his M.D. (Aw.) from l.PG.T. & R.A., Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar in 2000, He is double Gold Medalist and ‘Rotary Pandit Ayurvedic Educational Awardees’. He completed RG. Diploma in Yoga and Vidwat (P) level in Karnatic music. He is practicing Yoga Chikitsa, Naada Chikitsa and Ayurveda Chikitsa. He participated - s National and Internatior seminars as or on. He published a book on Yoga named ‘Yoga Sadhana’.
