ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ashok Kumar Jain

Ashok Kumar Jain is an architect-town planner an is a fellow of the eastern Asia region Organisation for Planning and Housing, International Society of City and regional Planers, Indian national Trust for Culture and Heritage, Indian Institute of Architects, Institute of Town Planners and Indian Buildings Congress. He studied at the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam and university of Bitminogham. He attended UN Habitat Conferences at Vancouver (1976 and 2006) and habitat II, Istanbul (1996), and is on the Advisory Committee of the UNCHS. He is a visiting faculty at Delhi school of Planning and Architecture and other Institutions. His books include –‘The Making of Metropolis –Planning and growth of Delhi’, ‘Building Systems for Low Income Housing’, ‘The Cities of Delhi’, ‘The Indian Megacity and economic Reforms’, ‘School Buildings –Planning, design and management’ and ‘Ecology and Natural resource management’. He is on the Editorial Board of the International; Journal of Environmental Studies. (U.K.).
