ABOUT THE AUTHOR Pradip Jyoti Mahanta

Teachers Cultural studies at Tezpur University. He has made significant contributions to Sankardeva studies, playing a major role in research and wider understanding of the nuances of the Sattriya art forms. His major publications include Glimpses of the vaisnava heritage of Assam (ed.1998), Sankardevar silpalok (in Assamese, 2007) and The Sankardeva movement: Its culturalhorizons(2007). He is the Co-ordinator of the UGC SAPDRS (1) programme of the department.
