Watershed Management

Watershed is defined as a geohydrological unit draining to a common point by a system of drains. All lands on earth are part of one watershed or other. Viewed in another angle watershed is a natural unit of land, which collects water and drains through a common point by a system of drains.

Watershed management has emerged as a new paradigm for planning, development and management of land, water and biomass resources with a focus on social and environmental aspects following a participatory approach.

Watershed management involves the judicious use of natural resource with active participation of institutions, organizations, in harmony with the ecosystem. This book presents the state of art methods in watershed management and proposes new ideas and approaches for future projects and programmes.
