Wetland Ecology Resources, Research and Conservation: An Indian Scenario

This book pertains to bring to light the result of extensive and in-depth research done by a wide range of experts on various facets of Wetlands in India. The research findings have been selected to cover representative areas of the country but owing to extensive nature of work involved, stress has only been laid on the physico-chemical characteristics of water, macrophytes, plankton, primary productivity, benthos, avifauna, fauna in general, ichthyofauna, pollution etc., of a few selected but representative areas. A wealth of information is available on the subject and stored and therefore, the time is ripe for their analysis, integration and arrive at some conclusion even though addition to the literature continue to appear in almost every new issue of various scientific journals. On such conclusions it should be possible to take policy decisions on the conservation aspects of wetlands and formulation of an action strategy.
