ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.K. Upadhyay
Prof. R.K. Upadhyay obtained his master’s degree in Social work from Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi in 1963. He did field work with an American Cultural Anthropologist and also in Trible Welfare Department of Madhya Pradesh. He later joined Hospital for Mental Diseases (now Central Institute of Psychiatry) Ranchi, as a Psychiatric social worker. In 1968, he was appointed assistant professor of Phychiatric social work at the same institute. In 1976, Prof. Upadhyay went to U.S.A. and acquired expertise in psychotherapy (both group and individual). He has more than 30 research papers to his credit. He has intensive and wide experience in dealing with various psycho-social problems, and is founder-president of Indian Society of Psychiatric Social Workers and editor of Indian Journals of Psychiatric Social work. He is president of Association of social Action, Research & Education, Kurukshetra and was general secretary of association of schools of social work in India. Prof. Upadhyay has written book on various subject including social case work. Presently he is a professor at the department of social work, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.
