ABOUT THE AUTHOR Michael Mann

Michael Mann did his Ph.D. on an agrarian-cum-ecological study in north India during the first half of the nineteenth century. His current interests cover a variety of subjects ranging from colonial state formation and problems of legitimate rule from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries, problems of urbanization and migration in South Asia to early colonial forest management and environmental studies.
