First published in 1924, Wit and Wisdom of India is a collection of 75 humorous stories chosen from Indian folk literature. These are rather unsophisticated stories which have retained the flavour of the taste of the common folk. Like many folk stories all over, these are likely to have their versions in other regions and in other languages. What is remarkable is that they have survived through the passage of time and are still highly enjoyable.
