The book explores the problems of women employees who were involved in community Development Programmes meant for the Upliftment of rural masses. While dealing with their problems. The author asserts that planned change has various facets which should be taken notes of. The problems of women employees should not be viewed in isolation. Their problems have arisen due to various social factors such as the very nature of CDP, the roles assigned to these employees, the prevailing socio-economic situation in rural area, the constraints of the social structure, the Bureaucratic frame-work in which they have to work, the sex-rolenorms and the like. Thus the volume brings to light one more aspect of the problem of rural development the hitherto unexplored.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Anuradha Bhoite
Dr. (Mrs.) Anuradha Bhoite who is presently working in the Department of Sociology, University of Poona, Pune has an ardent interest in research on women. From the beginning of her teaching career in higher education i.e. from 1963 onward, she is persistently pursuing this avowed aim in her life. Dr. Bhoite worked as a Visiting Scholar at the National University of Mexico under U.G.C.'s Cultural Exchange programme in 1978. She was also awarded a British Council Fellowship to visit various academic institutions in U.K. (1978). She visited Queen's University Kingston, Canada to deliver lectures on women's probelms, under Shastri-Indo Canadian programme (1985). She was also invited to work as a visiting Professor in the Department of Sociology/-Anthropology of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pa U.S.A. (1985). She had been to Uppsala (Sweden), Mexico-City (Mexico) Akron (U.S.A.) Washington (U.S.A.) for attending the International Conference and presenting papers there on Women's problems. quite a few of her articles on woemn are published in National and International journals. She has a couple of books on Sociology to her credit too.
