ABOUT THE AUTHOR Anuradha Bhoite

Dr. (Mrs.) Anuradha Bhoite who is presently working in the Department of Sociology, University of Poona, Pune has an ardent interest in research on women. From the beginning of her teaching career in higher education i.e. from 1963 onward, she is persistently pursuing this avowed aim in her life. Dr. Bhoite worked as a Visiting Scholar at the National University of Mexico under U.G.C.'s Cultural Exchange programme in 1978. She was also awarded a British Council Fellowship to visit various academic institutions in U.K. (1978). She visited Queen's University Kingston, Canada to deliver lectures on women's probelms, under Shastri-Indo Canadian programme (1985). She was also invited to work as a visiting Professor in the Department of Sociology/-Anthropology of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pa U.S.A. (1985). She had been to Uppsala (Sweden), Mexico-City (Mexico) Akron (U.S.A.) Washington (U.S.A.) for attending the International Conference and presenting papers there on Women's problems. quite a few of her articles on woemn are published in National and International journals. She has a couple of books on Sociology to her credit too.
