Rural women constitute nearly 80 per cent of the female population. They contribute largely to the country’s economy which is mainly agriculture based. A number of social enactments have been introduced for removing various constraints which hindered the progress of rural women. But inspite of these, there has been staggering progress in ameliorating the working conditions and socio-economic status of rural women. The present publication brings to the light various problems and difficulties faced by rural women. It is a sincere effort with an aim of creating an awakening regarding rural women, their issues, problems and their future in our village society and the country at large.
