Welcome to the fifth edition of World Cup Cricket.  In 2007, the cricket world gathers in the West Indies to stage the biggest event in the cricketing calendar.  Time has certainly flown since I attended my first World Cup in England in the 70s.  Its hard to believe that we are in our fourth decade of the tournament.  Haven’t thing changed… A sixty-over tournament to begin with, the World Cup has progressed to an exciting and colourful event involving several Commonwealth countries.  White clothing and red leather balls have given way to coloured clothing and white balls and scores of 220 in a one-day tournament have been eclipsed with totals of 300 and event he 400.  Thanks to hard-hitters like Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi, Andrew Flintoff, Dwayne Bravo, Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakarra and Kevin Pietersen, the One-day game has changed forever.  An how lucky we are to witness the World Cup of the new generation.  We have been given the opportunity to watch the greats of the modern game we expect the 2007 Tournament to be the curtain call for icons of the modern game, we say goodbye to Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Chris Cairns, Sanath Jayasuriya, Inzamam ul Haq and Adam Gilchrist tournament.  But we welcome newcomers to the field including hard-hitting MS Dhoni of India, Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff of England and Michael Hussey and Andrew Symonds of Australia.  The 2007 Cricket World Cup promises to b e the greatest One-day Tournament ever played.  I hope that my book will prepare you for the onslaught that is about to take place.  My sincere thanks to old friend Rajesh kumar who provided all the statistics and history for this book.  This marks the 23rd year that Rajesh has contributed to our cricket titles.  Also, thanks to Amit Gupta for his valuable assistance.
