Impressive in its intelligible sophistication, this work provides a new framework of analysis of Indo-Sri Lanka relations over the last three decades. One finds in the introduction an insightful criticism of past and present approaches as well as a theoretical exposition of a new approach. This is an important contribution to the study of politics in South Asia.
