The Satkarma (Sodhanakriya) are the important practices of traditional Hathayoga Sadhana. They are said to cleanse the body internally and are known as Satkarma which consist of six purification practices. They are mentioned as pre-requisites for the Pranayama practices. It is positively reiterated that these practices cleanse the body and mind, prepare them to reach the goal of Hathayoga.
Yoga practices like Asana adn Pranayama are now being practiced without the barrier of cast, colour and creed. Various postural practices although alluring and challenging to the newcomer but eventually providing flexibility, health, vitality, longevity and mental peace. The Satkarma practices have not been discussed and popularized at large, yet they play the most beneficial role in the managment of various diseases.
