ABOUT THE AUTHOR Biswanath Ray

Biswanath Ray (b. 1941) is a researcher in the Economic Researcher in the Economic Research Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. He is associated with the various academic organizations such as Bangla Arthaniti Parishad, Socio-Economic Research Institute, Calcutta, Indian Labour Association, Lucknow, Save the Depressed Children, Calcutta, etc. He is the author of a number of books, research projects and technical reports both in English and Bengali which were reviewed on all India Radio, Calcutta. He did extensive work on small-scale industries in West Bengal and also studies on Sunderbans. He has participated in a number of national conferences / symposia / seminars.
