The Education of all the school going age children in the age group of 6 to 14 years rests with the Government. This has been admitted by each and every modern Government of the contemporary world. Those countries like Japan, and America who had provided elementary education to all its school going age children, had been able to make faster economic progress. it is generally believed that 100/ literacy leads automatically to economic growth and development. Most of the Elementary education systems are for a period of 5 years. In some of the countries this period is 4 years also. The curriculum of elementary education consists of mother tongue, Social Studies, general Science, Maths, Arts and Crafts. The developed countries of the West have tried to make elementary education very purposeful and comprehensive. The whole educational system to that extent depends upon the elementary education system of a country.
