The Education of all the school going age children in the age group of 6 to 14 years rests with the Government. This has been admitted by each and every modern Government of the contemporary world. Most of the Elementary education systems are for a period of 5 years. In some of the countries this period is 4 years also. The curriculum of elementary education consists of mother tongue, Social Studies, general Science, Maths, Arts and Crafts. The developed countries of the West have tried to make elementary education very purposeful and comprehensive. The whole educational system to that extent depends upon the elementary education system of a country.

M.N. Shivaprakasham, M.A. (Political Science) and Ph.D. from Madras University, Chennai, has had a brilliant academic record. A seasoned teacher and a keen researcher, Dr. Shivaprakasham taught Political Science at graduate post-graduate level for past three decades in Government College, Madurai. He participated and presented research papers in several national and international seminars, workshops and conferences. Presently, he is a political analyst and freelance journalist in Chennai.
