The book divides communication-oriented study of Ayodhya-issue into three phases, pre-demolition, demolition and post-demolition. While during pre-demolition phase, the average Indian was hardly aware of Ayodhya-controversy, the same held Indian secularism strongly to test during demolition-phase. In contrast, post-demolition phase has been witness to communal calls having been repeatedly defeated by secularism of average Indian as well new importance assumed by Indian media. If during demolition-phase, lack of people’s awareness about Ayodhya-issue contributed to their being swayed by communal frenzy exploited by extremist elements, during post-demolition phase the same frenzy has collapsed against role played by Indian media and people’s approach towards the same. The decisive impact of communication boom on recipients’ attitude has burst relevance of what its promoters earlier viewed as a politico-religious bomb. During latter part, taking media’s revolutionary upsurge and people’s attitude towards it, beyond Ayodhya-issue, several national as well as international examples have been given.
