Bangladesh Migrants : A Threat to India is an effort made by depicting real problems faced in Indo-Bangladesh Border. The biggest problem India is facing is on the country’s economy and security due to continuous migration from Bangladesh from British period till today for various factors. The rising population, non-availability of land, unemployment including weak currency, floods and cyclones, push Bangladeshis to India for a better economic opportunity, good education and various Islamic interests. The large presence of about six crores of illegal Bangladeshi migrants have posed maximum threat to India’s security. India has failed to deal with the problem of migration which had involved political interests. The author in his book has suggested various measures with a wealth of information which will open the eyes of political leaders to understand the gravity of demographic changes noticed in Indian border states.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR P K Mishra

Dr. P.K. Mishra (b. 1973) Ph.D., D. Litt., Professor of History, Sambalpur University, Orissa is an experienced teacher and well known scholar. He has a wide range of academic interest covering archaeology, regional history and culture freedom movement and tribal history. His publications include; Political History of Orissa; Evolution of Orissa and Her Culture; Bhagabata Purana; An illustrated Palm-leaf mss, in Oriya Culture, Tribal History and Freedom Movement; Heritage of India: Past & Present, two volumes and several other titles. He was the President of Orissa History Congress in 1986-87 and 1994-95. He organized seven National Seminars and completed the Ford Foundation Research Project on Survey of Monuments in the Upper Mahanadi Valley in 1994.
