This book is an introductory. It presents the basic statistical methods that can be utilized for analysis and interpretation of data. It has been written primarily to suit the mediocre students. Eventually, the usual basic materials and methods included in the book is the output of the experience gained by the author while teaching in J.N. Agricultural University on various courses of statistics to graduate and post-graduate students. This book can serve as a guide book not only in Agricultural University but also in traditional one as far as the topics are concerned. Complicated mathematical expressions have been avoided while presenting some of the derivations. Several illustrative examples alongwith objective type questions have been added to demonstrate the methods in a vivid way. The author hopes that this book will be more useful to teachers and students working in University.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR H.L. Sharma

Dr. H.L. Sharma is Associate Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, J.N. Agricultural University, Adhartal, Jabalpur (M.P.) where he has been since 1983. Dr. Sharma received his Ph.D. in Statistics from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, a well known Central University. In the year 1988. He has been one year in the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (USA) during 1990-92 as a Post Doctoral Fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation of his paper in the International Conference of Population Association of America, Chicago (USA) during April 2-4, 1998. He has published about 40 research papers in different disciplines in the National and International Journals of repute.
