ABOUT THE AUTHOR Xavier Alphonse

Rev. Dr. Xavier Alphonse, S.J., is a Jesuit of the Tamil Nadu Province, India. He has been involved in Higher Education for the last 20 years. He is at present, professor of English at Loyola College, Chennai. He is the Founder Director of the Indian Centre for research and development of Community Education (ICRDCE), a co-ordinating agency for Community Colleges in India. He has authored and edited from 1996 12 books on the community college System, touching on its various aspects and 4 text Books by way of his contribution towards the teaching of Life Skills AQ Unique Feature of the Community Colleges. He has received many National Awards. He has become the Member of the university Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi in February 2006. He has also been appointed as a Member of the Working Group on Education of the Planning Commission, New Delhi on Education, July 2006.
