This book has attempted to provide to provide a managerial perspective of employee counseling in India organizations. This is based on a narrative study of 160 male managers and 120 female managers interviewed in 16 organizations in order to under-stand the employee counseling issues: 1. Problems faced by Colleagues/staff of women and male managers; 2. ways in which problems affect their colleagues/employees; 3. Ways in which the managers helped their colleagues and subordinates overcome problems; 4. Attitudes of male and female managers towards introducing counselling in organizations. The book includes a comprehensive, rich literature update (1995-2005) on workplace counseling and counseling perspective in India organizations. This publication shall be useful to managers at all levels especially in Indian organiz-ations, as it reveals an inner dialogue with managers. It presents organization-wise ana-lys’s of managers narratives on counseling issues.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR H.L. Kaila

Dr. H.L.Kalia, presently Reader and Head, Postgraduate Department of Psychology, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. Dr. Kalia has over 20 years professional experience and has to his credit several projects with ICSSR, UGC and World Health Organisation; and has authored 12 books, 10 monographs, and a large number of articles for newspapers, magazines and journals. He has also appeared several times on television for providing his experts views. Recently Dr. Kalia represented India at the International Democratic Education Conference 2003 at Albany, New York.
