E-business traditionally defined as commerce conducted via any electronic medium. Commerce can be defined as the exchange of goods & services on a large scale. The internet has changed the equation to a certain degree because it is new and constantly changing. E-commerce must be defined on broader scope. It is the integration of communication, data management and security capabilities that allows organisations to exchange information related to the sale of goods and services. These elements can be divided into three categories: Communication, Data Management and Security. E-business – Information is carried through an electronic medium such as a computer system operative over an electronic network. E-business pulls various business support services, including e-mail, on-line directories, ordering & logistical support systems, settlement support systems, inventory control system and management information and statistical reporting system. E-business infrastructure does not lend itself to this model: Non-repudiation and authentication have to be provided digitally. Digital signatures and encryption framework have been developed.
