Among the few states in the country that have successfully implemented e-governance projects, Gujarat is the pioneer. The smart car-based driving licence, automation of inter-state border transport check-posts, city civic centers in Ahmedabad and other such e-applications in government departments were first of their kind. The book presents six successfully implemented projects in three different departments of Gujarat covering contrastingly different types of functions and services. The whole experience of managing the change in different government departments, its issues and potentials are shared here. The book is intended to serve as a useful guide to IT consultants, government officials, students, educationalists, NGOs and public in general.
