Environmental education should be a part of adult education to disclose the global problems to the public and to help him to protect his environment. An attempt has been made to identify the needs of the rural adults in the area of environmental education and related with their socio-economic background. The material was arranged in six chapters. The findings will be useful to the researchers, teachers, environmental education programme implementers and administers for chalking out the future programmes and to revise the existence schemes.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR D Uma Devi

Dr. D. Uma Devi was born in 1965. She took her B.Com., (1985), M.A. (1987) and Ph.D. (1993) in Adult Education and M.A. (1996) in Sociology from S.V. University. At present she is in the Dept. of Adult Education, S.V. University, Tirupati. She has so far published 11 research papers in various reputed education, adult education and social science journals and presented nearly 18 research papers in National and International Seminars.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR P Adinarayana Reddy

Dr. P.A. Reddy, (b. 1957). He took his bachelor degree in Science (1978) and Education (1981) from Bangalore University, Post Graduation (1980) and Doctoral Degrees (1990) in Adult Education from S.V. University and M.Ed. (1984) from Anamalai University. He is at present with the Department of Adult Education in S.V. University Tirupati. He has undergone training in youth and Adult Education in Denmark and ad opportunities to study adult and non-formal education programmes in Denmark, Sweden and West Germany during visit to these countries. He has so far published 50 research papers in various reputed education, adult education and social science journals. He has also published six books viz., Adult Education in India, determinant of Instructor effectiveness, Reading Interests of Adults. Post-Literacy and continuing education, Total literacy campaign for children, Exposure of women to Mass Media, Health Consciousness among Women, Total Literacy campaign: Problem Perspectives, Education of Tribal Women.
