ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vir Bala Aggarwal
Dr. Vir Bala Aggarwal, a senior researcher and academic, had a brilliant and scholastic career in Master of Journalism and Mass Communication and B.Tech. (Printing technology). She has also acquired post-graduation in economics with a brilliant record. Her doctoral thesis was in the area of Mass Media. She started her career at Panjabi university, Patiala and then went to Punjab State university text Book Board, Chandigarh as a Publication Officer. In 1986, she joined Himachal Orad3sh university, Shimla and established the department of Journalism an Mass Communication where she is presently the Chairperson of the department. She has co-authored a text book titled Handbook of Journalism and Mass Communication with Prof. V.S. Gupta. Earlier, she brought out five books. She worked on the translation project of Toyota Foundation, Japan. In 2001, she organised a national seminar and brought out a book on the seminar papers titled: media and Society : Challenges and Opportunities. Dr. Aggarwal has participated and presented papers in national and international seminars and has published about 30 research papers in journals of repute, some of which have been included as articles/chapters in various books. She has been a visiting fellow to many universities in the country. She is also associated with university Grants Commission for Multifarious educational activities.
