This book deals with the fundamentals of computational photogrammetry and offers solution of problems through mathematical computations by using measurements made on photographs as input data. Delineating its basic principles and application expansion, it discusses at length instrumentation, coordinate systems, geometry of photographs, refinement of photo coordinates, relationship between object and photo, design of projects, multiple-photo applications and self-calibration as well as constraints. People applying photogrammerty in fields like surveying, mapping, civil engineering, geology, forestry, agriculture, space technology, crime investigation and microscopy will find the book very useful.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sanjib K. Ghosh

Sanjib K. Ghosh worked as a Surveyor in the Survey of India for 11 years, and as a faculty at the Ohio State University for 20 years and Laval University for 12 years. Also, he served the United Nations as a Consultant on World Cartography. His professional experience in research and development involved, among others: Air Photo Mapping of India – E. Pakistan Boundary; Ice flow movement studies in Antarctica; Calibration of the Lunar Orbiter IV (for Moon mapping by NASA); Calibration of the world’s largest radio telescope (at Arecibo, Puerto Rico); Mapping blood cells (Electron-micrographic); Calibration of Electron Microscopes; 3-D Mapping of human brain (Stereo-radiographic); and Self-calibration used in unconventional photogrammetric systems. He also served as Visiting Professor at various institutes and universities in Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria and Thailand. He has authored around 200 scientific publications, three books as sole author and four books as a contributing author. Inventor of a New Method of Determining Latitude and Azimuth, Dr. Ghosh holds a patent on the use of ‘Floating Line’ in Stereo-radiographic surgery of epileptic human brains.
