The means of transport demand is constantly increasing in human life as it facilitates the movement of people and commodity from one place to other on earth surface. The progress in industrial and other productive sector is entirely related with readily available transport means at local level. And, therefore, it is necessary to have better linkages between nodes, junctions, nodel points, industrial sites, ports and to exploit available local and regional resources speedily for human welfare. Dr. B.C. Vaidya has rightly considered this transport aspect as a spatial expression at national and regional level besides metropolitan transport system as a factor of movement. This book, thus, would be certainly valuable as guideline to planners, geographers, economists, academicians, researchers and others who are keen to know Indian transport development.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR B.C. Vaidya
Balkrishan C. Vaidya (born at Sirasgaon, Dis. Wardha in Maharashtra) holds M.A. (Geography), M.A. (Sociology), M.Ed., M.Phil., Dip. T. English and Ph. D. He possesses brilliant academic carrier and has been awarded Robertson and Korea Darbar Gold Medals for his outstanding performance. Dr. Vaidya is actively engaged in research work of applied nature. His interest is in the field of transport, populations, tribal development, agricultural innovation and writing since his college days. He has contributed more than two dozen articles in scholarly reputed journals and is member of many academic societies. Dr. Vaidya is author or two books, namely, Agricultural Landuse in India, and Readings in Transport Geography-A Regional Perspective. He has successfully completed IRDP project on A study of Soil Types and Cropping Pattern in Yadhoda Basin. Dr. Vaidya is currently working on project entitled “Socio-economic Status of Tribal Population in Maharashtra-A Geographical Perspectiveâ€. He is presently working as Reader in the Department of Geography, University of Pune.
