Breeding and culture of freshwater ornamental fishes is a fast growing trade the world over. Subsequent chapters describe water quality, accessories of aquarium and aquarium plants. A separate chapter is devoted to aquarium construction and its setting. Maintenance of aquarium, feeding and breeding of ornamental fishes are also stated categorically under separate chapters. Similarly, the diseases associated with aquarium fishes are also explained. There is an independent chapter on rearing of ornamental fishes in garden pools also in this manuscript. For easy access to topics a subject index is included at the end of the hand book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.K. Mathur

Dr. A.K. Mathur is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture Chemistry and Soil Science, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur. He did his M.Sc. from the M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur in 1977 and obtained Ph.D. Degree from the Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner in 1996. He has an extensive and rich experience of 27 years to his account in the field of teaching, research and extension in Soil Science. His field of interest are Pedology, Soil fertility and its management.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR L.L. Sharma

Dr. L.L. Sharma (Associate Professor and Head, Department of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur) passed his M.Sc. (Zoology) in first Division with specialization in Limnology and fisheries in 1973 from the M.K.S. University, Udaipur, and did his Ph.D. in 1980 on "Limnological aspects of Udaipur waters in comparison to selected waters of Rajasthan" from the same university. He has been an active scholar in the field of environment and Aquatic Ecology for the last over 30 years and has contributed 70 research papers and 33 popular articles on different aspects of aquatic ecology, fisheries and environment in reputed journals. Dr. Sharma has been closely associated with the research projects sponsored by the D.S.T. (New Delhi and Jaipur) UNICEF, DOD, ICAR and Department of Environment of Environment (Jaipur) and Department of Atomic Energy (BRNS). Dr Sharma is an active member of several NGO's and academic associations. He has visited Sri Lanka, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Japan for attending seminars, symposia and environmental activities. Dr. Sharma has been pursuing research in the field of limnology, Inland aquaculture, Aquatic pollution, Aquatic biodiversity, Thermal ecology and conservation of lakes.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sarvesh Mathur

Dr. Sarvesh Mathur (Department of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur) did her M.Sc. Zoology with specialization in Limnology and Fisheries in 1977 from the M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur and obtained her Ph.D. in 1982 on the study on Genus Lymnaea (Mollusca, Pulmonata) from the same University. Dr. Mathur joined the faculty of Agriculture of MPUAT in the Department of Limnology and Fisheries in 1988 and under took the task of organizing ornamental fish breeding, rearing and aquarium plant culture for specific target groups in Delhi, Faridabad and Udaipur. She has to her credit 15 research papers and 6 popular articles published in national and international journals. Her fields of interest are ornamental fish culture, Inland Aquaculture, Aquatic pollution and Limnology.
