OSH-2000 seeks to give a comprehensive statistical account of India at the sawn of the new millennium. In addition to macroeconomic indicators, it presents the profiles of almost all segments of the economy such as agriculture, industry, infrastructure, social sector and also India’s performance vis-a-vis other counties especially its neighbor. The need for accurate and timely information on India assumes importance in view of the transformation the country’s economy has been undergoing since early 1990s. Hardly any sector or economic activity remains untouched by the process of liberalization and globalization.
