A commentary on the Gospel according to John is attempted here from the background and context of religious Pluralism of India. In all hermeneutics, in all understanding and interpretation, the context decides the content. Jesus was the Ishta devata (chosen Detty) of the Johannine Community. India is the land of religois Pluralism, the land of many Ishta Devatas and therefore Indians can understand this Gospel without much difficulty.
