ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rear Admiral K. Sridharan

Rear Admiral K. Sridharan, aged 81, graduated from the University of Madras before joining the Indian Navy. He served in important assignments during World War II and thereafter. A naval historian of repute, he has written extensively on the Navy and on maritime matters. His well-known book, A Maritime History of India, has been prescribed as a text at Naval and other service institutions, both in India and abroad. His other publications include, History of the Naval Dockyard, Bombay, History of the Mazagon Dock, and the recent popular book, Sea-Our Saviour.
