India’s Security in 21 Century : Challenges and Responses

The phenomenal dawn and ongoing developments of the 21 century bear the testimony that, following the reverberations of ending cold war and bipolarism, India has been faced with a number of marked shifts, adjustments, readjustments and adaptations in her security perspectives and imperatives. Meanwhile, induced by the necessity to strike a reasonable balance between the traditional and relatively newer conceptions of national security in a fragile world, India faces numerous threats and challenges of harmful nature, particularly during the post-Kargil strategic scenario, nuclear and other developments in South Asia. The rich and varied ensemble of thoughtful papers contained in this book illustrates the above-mentioned general trends alongwith a specific focus on India’s national security in the new millennium.
