The present book consists of 30 reviews on important pest and diseases of cash crops, cereals, oilseeds, vegetables, fodders, fruits and pulses etc. Most of these articles have been prepared by authorities in their respective areas. There is a worldwide swing to the use of ecologically safe, environment friendly methods of protecting crops from pests and pathogens. Most modern biotechnologists and common man are of the opinion that dependence on expensive and harmful chemicals should be avoided and instead biological methods be adopted for controlling pests, pathogens and diseases. Different components of IPM viz. biological control, chemical control, application of genetic engineering, breeding for pest/disease resistance and cultural practices have been discussed separately for various crops as a system approach. This volume will be very useful to students, entomologists, plant pathologists, agriculturists, horticulturists, botanists, zoologists, extention scientists and farmers.

Dr. B.P. Chamola obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in Botany from HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttaranchal.
