KVIC Golden Gubilee: 1956-2006

Khadi & Village Industries Commission has completed fifty years of its functioning and is celebrating Golden Jubilee.  To commemorate the Celebration, the KVIC has planned to take up number of programmes for the development of KVI sector.  Keeping in tune with message of “Mahatma” to the younger generations to propagate truth, righteousness and self-reliance, the commission has also planned an exposition of the self-reliant KVI activities for the youth in order to generate awareness of the multifaceted rural development programmes as an avenue for self employment and rural industrialization, thus carving the route to national prosperity.  In general, the KVIC feels that the sector is very critical for the nation as a whole as it addresses the issues of employment, equity and equality, sustainability, eco-friendliness and eco-development as one package with the main objective of improving the social and economic status of the rural poor.  A lot of changes have taken place in the last 5 decades, the journey that began with charkha wheels with the clarion call of Mahatma “ Jo pehne so kate, Jo kate so pehne” has carved a niche for itself at National and International platform.  Once “Livery of Freedom” as said by Nehruji, today Khadi dresses up all class and creed.  Above all, the striving efforts of KVIC for social and economic upliftment of the deprived rural masses remains concrete till date.  In this Golden Jubilee year let us all pledge with a mind purified and composed as an integral part of “Khadi Parivar” to carry forward the mission envisioned by “Bapuji”, Father of the Nation to weed out the miseries of the “Children of Lesser God.” Finally, a healthy society can be created only when the ideology of development is owned by all classes.  This is how Khadi has to be embraced by the whole society.  From 1956 to 2006 the Organisation never turned back, it climbed ladder of success step by step, one after another.  KVIC’S achievements at various levels are numerous.
