In view of quality and quantity of education there is a vide significance of the leadership behaviour of school Heads in India. In this way, a study conducted on the leadership behaviour of Heads of schools is very relevant of the present context of education. In the introductory chapter, the study covers leadership concept, significance and objectives of the study, second chapter covers theoretical background and deals with both the personal and institutional variables like job satisfaction, personal effectiveness, organizational climate and organizational culture and the dependent variable leadership behaviour in detail. The third chapter involves the review of related literature on and the above mentioned variables. Fourth chapter deals with the methodology of the study which involves hypotheses, sampling and data collection. Fifth chapter deals with data analyses and results. It consists of tables of the analyzed data and interpretation of results. The last chapter discusses prospects and retrospect of the study concluding with findings of the study, educational implications and conclusions of the study. I hope this study will be useful to the school heads, teachers, administrators and researchers.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Noorjehan N. Ganihar

Dr. Noorjehan N. Ganihar is working in karnatak University , Dharwad since 1986. Presently, she is a Professor of the Department of Education. She obtained her M.A., M.Ed., and Ph.D. degrees from Karnatak University, Dharwad. She has a P.G Diploma in Education from S.N.D.T. Women's University, Bombay. She has a P.G. Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a P.G. Diploma in Higher Education from IGNOU. A "Second Rank" holder in her B.A course and a "First Rank" holder in B.Ed., M.Ed. and P.G Diploma in Education Management. Dr. Ganihar is a "Gold Medalist" in the M.Ed course. She is a recipient of two "State Awards" in (1982) and (1983). She has received Life Time Achievement Award in Education from Health and Education Development Association, New Delhi in 2007. She has published a number of research articles in journals of national standard and repute. She has also guided several M.Ed., M.Phil. dissertations and Ph.D. theses, attended a number of national/international seminars/conferences/workshops and presented many papers. She is a member of several academic boards/bodies besides holding honorary positions in various NGO's.
