ABOUT THE AUTHOR Paigham Afaqui

Paigham Afaqui’s family name is Akhtar Ali Farooquee. He was born in a village named Chanp in Distt. Siwan of Bihar. Educated at his village Maktab, home town’s DAV Higher Secondary School, he did his graduation in English Literature (Hons.) and post-graduation in History from Aligarh University. He lives in Delhi and is in the Police Service. He is a versatile genius. He is one of the most eminent writers and poets in modern Urdu and has contributed it as a trend setter. He has given a new and expansive dimension to Urdu fiction and poetry by focusing deeply on day today life in a philosophical manner and expressing himself in powerful symbolic diction. He has written novels, short stories, poetry, essays, literary, academic and philosophical treatises, serials for T.V. and film scripts. He has also delivered lectures on film-making in institutions like J.N.U. and Indira Gandhi Open University on the basis of his unique experience in the field. He takes an active interest in issues concerning social and humanitarian activities. His wife is also a scholar and writer.
