Local health traditions cannot be revitalized without ensuring the health of their medicinal plants resource base. For a long term and sustainable utilization programme for medicinal plants, it is imperative that medicinal plants are not only domesticated and put under cultivation, but also conserved in the wild. This book is first of its kind thereby adding a new dimension to the cultivation, conservation and utilization of medicinal plants. According to current estimates about three fourth of the herbal drugs produced in India are used for curing human ailments. ABOUT THE AUTHOR D R Khanna
Dr. D.R. Khanna, Ph.D., FIAES, FASEA, FNC, FZSI, FSES is Professor in Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukula Kangri University, Hardwar (U.A.), India. He is a well known Limnologist and has published about 65 research papers and articles on limnology and aquatic microbiology. He has edited 6 books in the field of Environment and written 5 books in limnology and zoology, and a book of Yajya "Yajya evam Vayu Pradushan". Dr. Khanna is an editor of two journals "Environment Conservation Journal" and "Journal of Natural Conservators" and member of editorial board of three journals. He has also organized several National Seminars as organizing secretary/joint organizing secretary. He is awarded by ASEA Excellence Award-2000, and Nature Conservators Impetus Gold Medal-2003.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR D.S. Malik
Dr. D.S. Malik, Ph.D., FNC, FASEA, is senior lecturer in Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. He is a well-known researcher and academician in the field of Biodiversity Resource Conservation. He has published about 60 research papers and edited six books. Dr. Malik is executive editor of Journal Aquacult. He has been awarded ASEA Young Scientist Award, Nature Conservators, Paryavaran Award and Nature Conservators Impetus Gold Medal.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR R. Bhutiani
Dr. R. Bhutiani, FASEA, is Lecturer in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. Currently he is doing research in the field of limnological modeling. Dr. Bhutiani has authored/edited six books. He is associate editor of Environment Conservation journal. He has published about 25 research papers and 5 articles in national and International Journals of repute. He has been awarded two junior young scientist awards for best research paper and appreciation award 2006.
