India is a vast country of almost 100 million. It has a long costal line. But we have yet to develop a tradition of writing on military systems. Objective of this composition is two fold: a. To provide a comprehensive and connected view of the various military systems in India through the ages. b. To provide the readers sources in proper historical perspective to enable the scholars to undertake further research on the various aspects of defence of India.
