Principles and Practice of Soil Science

The present book, on Principles and Practice of Soil Science has been prepared (written) keeping in view of the requirements and direction of modern teaching and research in soil-genesis disciplines. An attempt has been made to evolve a new text with originality in style and presentation and also include some topics of current importance. This will be an individual and additional feature above all the existing texts. This book primarily provides a comprehensive overview of the role and behaviour of soils in both the man-made and the natural environment. This is a core text for students of H.S., B.Sc., M.Sc., agriculture and research. Moreover, this book will be useful for the students appearing in competitive examination like IAS, IPS, Public Service Commission etc. Many farmers of India and abroad are not fully conversant with the methods of keeping good soil health and improving soil-fertility. Because of harmful side effect we must also give encouragement to the farmers to use organic manures in the agricultural field without application of pesticidal compounds. My aim is to help the interested farmers and students so that they can understand well the behaviour of the soils in various aspects described in this book.
